ECLIPSE Phase 3

Bowel Cancer Screening Engagement

(Opt-Out Form)

Programme Overview

The ECLIPSE supported Phase 3 Bowel Cancer Screening Engagement Programme aims to increase the uptake of bowel cancer screening among newly invited 50- and 52-year-old patients in North East London. This initiative is delivered in partnership with the North East London NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, the London Bowel Cancer Screening Hub, and Prescribing Services.

From mid-September 2025, approximately 4,600 patients across North East London will be turning 50 or 52 and due to receive their first bowel screening invitation. Data shows that screening uptake in the 50–60 age group is significantly lower than in older cohorts. By engaging these ‘new-to-screening’ patients—particularly in practices where uptake is lowest—the programme aims to boost participation rates, improve early detection, and reduce late-stage diagnoses of bowel cancer.

The programme operates through your existing Eclipse Clinical and Patient Support Service, using SMS messages, informative landing pages (available with multilingual translation), and, where needed, follow-up telephone calls. Patients will be informed about the screening programme and asked to confirm their address, helping to ensure kits are sent correctly and reducing wastage. All data processing is covered by existing agreements, and no additional workload is required from practice staff.

Your practice will be included in this supplementary engagement unless you choose to opt out. If you do wish to opt out, please complete this form by 30th September 2025 and provide your reason for opting out.
